Happy Teacher’s Day & Happy Onam.

She called to wish me on Teacher’s Day.
Happy Teacher’s Day to all on the blogosphere.
And Happy Onam to all my Malayali friends.
It is sad that none of my Malayali friends live nearby. I would have loved to take part in the Onam festivities. Looks like I’ll have to miss the payasams this year.
To those who do not know and are curious, the picture on the right shows Saraswathi, the Hindu Goddess of Knowledge. The Vedic tradition of India from time immemorial has given women the highest place of respect and recognition. Knowledge itself has been personified as a feminine deity - the goddess Saraswathi. Saraswathi literally means “one who gives the essence (sara) of our own Self (swa).”
