Wishing everyone a Happy Deepavali.*
It is customary to exchange sweets and gifts on the occasion of Deepavali.
Here is something that my friend Suresh sent me in lieu of Deepavali Sweets. I’m sure you all appreciate my magnanimity in sharing this
& here is the gift…
Some time ago I chanced upon an interesting and delightful blog ‘Cuckoo’s Call‘ by Rama who describes himself as a social planner, grassroots organiser and teacher. He is based in Calcutta and is, as I gathered much later, a fellow Tamil. My visits to his blog are rather sporadic. But I when I do, I usually find gems such as these…
- Silent Teacher.
- Vishwa Karma Puja.
- Ramadan Greetings.
- Weapons of math instruction.
- Mulla Nasruddin’s letter to his wife. This has to be the best such list compiled. 35 out of 365 (Yes. I counted!) is really pathetic.
I don’t think I am qualified to comment on a blog that is so eclectic, erudite and secular. Nor do I think that I can do justice to its contents here. I urge you all to go there and explore.

NB. I’m going to my home town to celebrate Deepavali with my family. So I may not be able to respond to comments till Monday.

Thanks for the referral. I’ll have to check it out.
It is quite a sobering blog.
And it’s done well.
I hope that you have a good visit and holiday with your family.
Be safe!
later…
Happy Deepavali, Vijay! :o)
I’m picturing all of the lights and flowers …
And I did, indeed, have someone to send that lovely picture to, thank you!
