A family on a pilgrimage were involved in an accident. The van they were travelling in hit a tree. Everyone in the van sustained injuries, ranging from pelvic fractures to broken teeth.
A 15-year-old boy had lost two of his front teeth (upper incisors). His father sustained severe facial injuries with a large lacerated wound in the left naso-ethmoidal region with a clinical suspicion of fracture in the underlying naso-ethmoidal complex1,2.
A CT scan was done for the father. To our surprise, we saw this….

We found one of the boy’s lost incisor teeth embedded in the frontal sinus of the father and it looked remarkably intact!!
The crown of the tooth is seen within the frontal sinus with the root protruding into the frontal soft tissue.
