Paul C. Lauterbur, a University of Illinois professor of chemistry who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 2003 for his pioneering work in the development of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), died on Tuesday March 27, 2007 at his home in Urbana, Illinois.
