Is there a male equivalent of a ‘chick flick?’
Chennai 600028 is Kollywood’s answer.
A mixture of a ‘guy flick’ (for want of a better name for the genre) and a ‘sports flick‘ with a wide variety of other genres (Comedy, Drama, Romance, Action, etc.,) thrown into the pot to get one big masala movie, which in its own innovative way is very different from the usual Tamil masala movies.
‘Bend It Like Beckham‘ it may not be. But I liked it better than Lagaan, which I thought was a bit too cinematic (coupled with my usual disdain for Bollywood movies).
Watch it if you have nothing better to do on a Sunday evening.
It definitely beats watching the ongoing TV-soap antics of the Indian Cricket team and their Board of unControl.
