Ian Hedges at Failure is the key to success has tagged me with the eight random facts meme.
Rules:
1. Players start with 8 random facts about themselves.
2. Those who are tagged should post these rules and their 8 random facts.
3. Players should tag 8 other people and notify them they have been
tagged.
My random facts:
- I probably shouldn’t have become a radiologist. I’m almost legally blind without my glasses!
- I was fourteen when I saw and used a computer for the first time. I used to ride 3 km on my bicycle to get to the only computer learning/training centre in town to learn BASIC. This was in 1987.
- The most wonderful historical buildings that I have visited are the Taj Mahal and the Dilwara Temples at Mount Abu in Rajasthan.
- I doodle a lot. My specialty is drawing cartoon faces. I have trouble getting the bodies and limbs to be proportional. All my notebooks from school and medical college have doodles on the last few pages.
- In high school, I played defender (full back) in my house’s field hockey team. Knowing well my athletic prowess (and lack thereof), my house captain gave me specific instructions. “Forget the ball. Go for the ankles. I don’t care if the referee penalizes you.”
- The first English book that I remember reading on my own - at the ripe old age of 9, the year I was sent to boarding school - was by Enid Blyton. I forgot which one. Could have been one of the Famous Five books.
- I am completely fluent only in one language - English. I can speak and read Tamil well but my writing is atrocious. I can understand spoken Hindi and can read, but I’ve forgotten how to write in Hindi. I can understand and speak a little of Malayalam and Kannada. Telugu is one Dravidian language that I regretfully don’t know at all.
- And last but not least, ours was a traditional arranged marriage. We’ve been happily married for 8 years now.
I just realized 8 is a big number - I’ll have to add a few new friends to the usual list
- Moof at All Blogged Up: A Moof’s Tale.
- Lakshmi at I think and so I am!
- Rob at Musings of a Distractible Mind.
- Cathy at her eponymous Place To Blog.
- Dr. Anonymous at his eponymous blog.
- Lois at Lowdown From Lois.
- Cuckoo at One From the Cuckoo’s Nest.
- George at Odysseys of George.
Update (9 AM on 15.06.2007):
Oops. I just remembered that Dr. A said some time ago that he isn’t going to take part in blog memes.
So there is one slot empty.
Anyone who visits and is interested please feel free to play. I’ll include your name to the list if you got the idea from here.

Thanks Vijay.
Like these a lot, the glasses and hockey ones brought a chuckle.
Regards,
Ian
Good job Vijay. Very interesting. I always tell my kids that if glasses hadn’t been invented they’d be mucking out the stables now!
I can see how the Tamil might be a bit difficult to write from what I’ve seen on your blog, but if you only had to type would you be fluent?
Thanks for sharing.
jmb
Thanks Ian.
JMB: The Tamil script isn’t too difficult to write once you learn. I think I write faster and better than I type Tamil. It’s the grammar that kills me. The earliest extant work of Tamil literature (dated between 901 BC and 300 BC) is Tolkāppiyam, a treatise on Tamil grammar!!
I like the one about mucking out the stables. I would have been milking the cows and drying cow dung
Thanks for the meme (do you know anyone else who actually thanks you for tagging them?). Shall take it up over the weekend.
Done-Duna-Done
Vijay, Oh I like this meme. I will post mine either this evening or tomorrow. I loved your number 8…Also, about glasses, without them, I would probably be married to one of jmb’s sons..All that time we would have spent together mucking out stables.
Very nice..
Hi,
Sorry for the delay. I am in the middle of two trips.
Glad to know a little more about you. The glasses thing was interesting.
And thanks for tagging me but I have already attempted this tag. I am sure you will come to know a lotttttttt about me. Please do leave a comment there after reading it.
Next time I will surely take up your tag. That makes me ask you one question. Can I tag you coz I have many pending tags which I intend to do when I am fully back to my routine. I think I am going to win another award… “the most tagged person” of the year.
Take care,
Cuckoo
Mine is up…:)
Okay … red faced … *blink*
Now I know what MEME you were talking about in BlogLog. *cough* Vijay … I haven’t even done the first one yet!
I guess I’m just going to have to get my noodles together and do the three MEME’s I’m behind on …
Okies … putting on my thinking cap …
