Photo Hunt - “Shadow(s)”

About | Theme: Shadow(s) | Roll

I’m late again for the Saturday deadline here in India (I have a valid reason, which will be subject of my next post). But as a good friend reminded me two weeks ago, I have a few minutes left to beat the deadline in Vancouver :)

After a few minutes of thinking about the theme, I decided I was going with the plural ’shadows,’ for which I had the perfect set of photos.

The tag line for this submission is…

Psychedelic Shadows In A Geek Party

These were pictures taken in 2005 at a get-together of my medical college classmates. After an evening spent on serious medical discussions and hands-on training on the ‘Benefits of High Spirits‘ the boys wanted to do something fun.

The resident geek had borrowed an LCD projector, this was hooked up to a laptop playing foot thumping music on iTunes. The psychedelic iTunes visualizer was projected on the far wall of the room and the floor was opened to the revellers.

Here are some of the pictures….

I have wondered if anybody ever did that. I’ve projected my screen and watched DVD on TV from my macs but never tried this. Real cool.

I was giving up on you and George, Vijay. You just got your act together in time. Great photos for the theme, you wild things. Did you have many women in your class? And do I have a psychodelic iTunes visualizer on my computer, although I certainly don’t have a projector? Now I’m off to read why you were late posting this.

    hi again!

all i did was make a slideshow in iPhoto (no music) with Ken burns effect and fixed my timing on the photos.

then i went FILE:EXPORT and it automatically makes a movie

i remembered that blogger has a new video feature so i uploaded using that and it looked OK; but it was tiny

so i also put it on youtube.

you are so right about your laptop and i am glad for your sake you didn’t kill it! we have spilled everything on our old ones but diet coke was the ONLY thing that ever killed a mac.

but go ahead: get that macbook; go into debt and get everything on it; it is the most magnificent machine ever made!!

    have a good sunday!

    Thanks JMB.
You do have an iTunes visualizer on Windows. Check under View in the top menu or press Control T to get it on and then press Control F to get it to Full Screen mode. There may be some customizable Options available as in Mac.
My MBBS (undergraduate medicine) class of 1990 had 76 students, 40 boys and 36 girls. Twelve years after leaving college, the informal alumni association has kept up with about half the batchmates. The photos are from the first organized get together, where 18 boys attended. We weren’t sure of the adequacy or availability of lodging for ladies and families, so it turned out to be ‘boys only’ affair. Within a few seconds of the getting together, otherwise respectable doctors had turned into ‘wild things’ as you so rightly put it :)

    Thanks meeyauw.
We are used to projecting all our presentations at medical meetings, so it was a logical process to use the hospital’s projector, which was ‘borrowed’ officially for leisure-time activities too.
Thanks for the tip about exporting as movies from iPhoto. I hadn’t tried that. I routinely export CT scan series (which usually run to about 150 - 200 images for body scans) as QuickTime movies on the made for Mac, open source Osirix DICOM Viewer, which I believe lives up to the fan hype of being the fastest in the world with the coolest features (hence its place in the top of my sidebar).
About the MacBook Pro. You bet I’m going to get it :D
As I said, the only reason I don’t have it is because of the anticipated Leopard release. I’ve been saving up for it over the past year or so (ever since the launch in 2006).

PS. I’ve Blogrolled & Bloglined you. We Mac-addicts have to stick together in this Windows dominated world.
