Note: A self-imposed meme moratorium will come into effect at this blog after this post. I have nothing against memes. I enjoy taking part. But I find that I’m unable to keep up with tags & memes. I don’t want the people who tag me to get the impression that I’m rude.
Rules of this tag:
- Name the person with link who tagged you.
- Complete the questionnaire without changing the questions.
- Tag 6 or more people.
Rule 1: Cuckoo tagged me with this meme about two months ago.
Rule 3: I’ll forego this right / duty. See the note at the beginning of this post.
Rule 2: The Questions.
Q1. Are you happy / satisfied with your blog, with its content and look?
I am happy with its look. I would really have to get my hands dirty with stylesheets, CSS and PHP if I wanted to improve it anymore. The content has not really lived up to my expectations. I’m to blame.
Q2. Does your family know about your blog?
I have not tried to keep it a secret but my family is not very net savvy. My wife and my brother know about my blog. They don’t visit or read.
Q3. Do you feel embarrassed to let your friends know about your blog or you just consider it as a private thing?
No. I’m not embarrassed to let my real life friends know about my blog. Most of my friends are not interested in stuff like this. One or two of them look in occasionally. One got inspired by me to start his own blog.
If I really wanted a private place to vent, I would have kept an old-fashioned diary.
Q4. Did blogs cause positive changes in your thoughts?
Most definitely yes. I have always been a sociable sort and get along well with a lot of people. Blogging expanded my circle of friends by many orders of magnitude.
Q5. Do you only open the blogs of those who comment on your blog or you love to go and discover more by yourself?
I usually visit the blogs of everyone who comments in mine. But if those were the only blogs that I visited, I wouldn’t have a big list. I usually blog hop from my friends blogrolls. I have also discovered some great bloggers through MyBlogLog, blogcatalog, Pownce and facebook.
Q6. What does visitors counter mean to you? Do you care about putting it in your blog?
A little more than thirty four thousand visitors in the twenty one months that I’ve been blogging. Works out to about 1600 visitors per month, about 50 per day. A considerable number of them would have landed here from a search engine. So I guess I get about ten visitors everyday who are interested in what they would find here. I’d like it to be more. But I don’t think I’ve been regular enough nor have my posts been good enough to warrant heavier traffic.
Q7. Did you try to imagine your fellow bloggers and give them real pictures?
Yes. Over time, one tends to think of blog friends similar to real life friends. Most of us get a mental image of our friends when we think of them. Photos, if available, or avatars are the substitute in blogland. I’ve seen some real life photos of bloggers in facebook.
Q8. Do you think there is a real benefit for blogging?
Yes. But I would find it hard to list the benefits. Some of them are real and measurable like making new friends and learning some new skills and technology. Most of the benefits are intangible. There is a definite feel-good factor about airing your views and being commended.
Q9. Do you think that bloggers’ society is isolated from real world or interacts with events?
No. Bloggers being isolated from the real world has to be an oxymoron. Most bloggers are people writing about things that matter in their lives.
Q10. Does criticism annoy you or do you feel it’s a normal thing?
I have not had any overt criticism of something that I have written or posted about. That probably reflects on the dearth of material here.
Q11. Do you fear some political blogs and avoid them?
I don’t go looking for political blogs but I don’t avoid or fear them.
Q12. Did you get shocked by the arrest of some bloggers?
Did this happen in India? I have no idea. I do remember something about some science bloggers being threatened with lawsuits over alleged copyright violations some time ago.
Q13. Did you think about what will happen to your blog after you die?
I haven’t thought about that.
Q14. What do you like to hear? What’s the song you might like to put a link to, in your blog?
My musical tastes are eclectic, ranging from 70s Rock to Ghazals to Tamil movie songs. Here is a link to my current favourite song - pArththa muthal nALE from the Tamil movie vEttaiyAdu viLayAdu.

I feel the same way about memes now. At first they were fun for me, but, like you, I was falling more and more behind on them. Maybe someday, I’ll get back to them….
What? I don’t get tagged? *Pout*
First, many thanks for doing this tag. We got to know more of you.
Heyy, why do you think people will get such an impression? Even I did this tag after 8 months of wait !! Not that I had forgotten but at that time as a new blogger I thought I was a bit premature in attempting the questions honestly. As of today, I have 11 pending tags which I plan to do slowly.
Sometimes time doesn’t allow us to do & sometimes it’s just not fun to do at that particular moment.
What I generally do is, whenever I am tagged, I first acknowledge the tag.. whether I’ll do it or have already done it/ refuse it & accordingly I note it down in ‘to do tags’ list. No question of forgetting and the tagger has an idea when I am going to do it.
Cheers & Have a nice weekend.
Thanks for visiting me.
I haven’t seen this meme but it is an interesting one. Even though I am The Queen of Memes I can totally understand that being tagged can take over your bloglife. I may pass this one on to others if you don’t mind or do it myself later. What am I saying? I have a stack of unfinished memes myself!
Note: I moved this comment from here. I couldn’t figure out how to change the IP address to get the correct country flag, browser & OS. Hence Mimi is shown as a Mac user from India.
Interesting questions and answers. I think you do very well for someone who is basically working every day.
As to the meme thing, I do only the ones that interest me and I will even tag myself if I find one out there that I like. I also don’t always put up the awards that people give me. I do hope people understand, but my sidebar is cluttered enough.
Now that was an interesting post!
Just need to get one every other day, is all!
Vijay, I had the most unreal sense of “dejà vu” as I read your reply to #11, 12 and 13. Did you do this MEME before?
