Hi Vijay,

Very nice to hear your voice after all these years.
Your story was nice to listen to especially with the visual effects.
Priya is beautiful. Hope to listen to more interesting stories from scan man's notes.

Oh Vijay, if I were you, I would have fallen like a ton of bricks for her the moment I laid eyes on the conventional, sareeclad, flower wearing woman.. considering how beautiful she is even without the alankaram, I can imagine how gorgeous she must have been.
In my case, we had a "reverse" ponnu paarkal, where I crossed continents to "see the boy". Of course I had already been smitten with Arunn's emails to me.

Hey da,
That was a beautifully narrated episode.Your split second decisions on that day had in fact put you on the right path. That's the custom over here. But not all are lucky. I bet if the family history (that's what we rely upon mostly) is good we stand a good chance of getting a better partner. But never debate on it, it never ends.

Dear Vijay

I did not know this story before. It is really interesting. You have done it very well, narrated clearly with interesting special effects. You will be an expert soon. Nice to hear your friendly voice and a thrilling story after a tiring and depressing day at work. Keep up your work.

Thanks JMB. The images in the 'enhanced podcast' are preset at 300 x 300 pixels. They look good in the iTunes album artwork viewer. Same in QuickTime. You probably would not have seen the links to all the places that I mentioned. I noticed that the link text was in a color which merged with the feet of my icon avatar. The links become very obvious in iTunes.

Of course many arranged marriages fail. Most young couples don't even get the amount of time that we got to spend with each other - either on the first day or during the engagement, which is usually a very short affair. There is a lot of resistance to arranged marriages nowadays. But it isn't yet a flood which will wash away the traditional practices.
About my situation, I guess my parents would have accepted if I had refused. But I didn't want to. I liked what I saw of Priya on that day. And I grew to like/love her more over the long engagement period.

I got a call from a couple of my classmates in Australia. They listened to this and had a good laugh over it though they already know the story. Encouraged by that, I've sent out an email to most of my other friends, who are either blissfully ignorant of this blog, or chose to ignore it.
