Chennai Photowalk - 8.

Note: My apologies to non-Tamilian readers for not providing translations or context. I’m sure you know the phrase ‘lost in translation.’ That applies here.

Chandrachoodan Gopalakrishnan (or CCG if you find that unpronounceable) of Selective Amnesia, the founder / creator of Chennai Photowalk has announced the eighth iteration of his photowalk.

Okay! For the first time since the Photowalks began, I have had to change the sacred order of things. I am sorry, but I had no choice. I am referring, of course, to the great and holy tradition of holding the Chennai photowalks on the second Sunday of every month. But, like I said, I had no choice. I shall offer penance and bribes to the lords of the walks later but first, the details all you good folk await so patiently.

The 8th Chennai Photowalk will be on the 15th and 22nd of June, 2008. That’s right. Two different days, same walk. Seeing how we have quite a bunch of people willing to sacrifice their Sundays (at last count, 65 people. Yes. 65!) but not all of them willing to do said sacrifice on same day.

You can see some of the great photos from the seventh photowalk at his blog, and the entire set at flikr. Look for the earlier photowalks in his archives here.

The number of expected participants has increased in the time that has elapsed since the announcement on his blog. He tweeted a short while ago

70 confirmed participants for the 8th Chennai Photowalk on the 15th, 20 for the one on 22nd. I am AFRAID

Then he did the sensible thing that any self-respecting Thamizhan with a crowd following him would do. He proclaimed the formation of a party…

Announcing - “Akila India Chennai Maanagara Pugaipada Nadappavar Munnetra Kazhagam”

The reader(s) of this post, if any, may wonder why I am announcing this. I am in Salem. I don’t even like Chennai. Well, the answer is simple (sort of).

Thalaivar CCG has been kind enough to bless me with the post of vatta mErpArvaiyAlar of the Salem kOttam of the AICMPNMK (it sounds better in Tamil: Aa Ee Say Maa Pu Na Mu Ka)

So I have done what a good kazhaga thondan / udanpirappu / raththaththin raththam is expected to do.

Put up a poster or banner.
