Zippy comes to India
Published by Vijay February 13th, 2009 in Friends, Medical blogs, News, Other Bloggers, Zippy the lobster…
The medblogosphere’s most famous crustacean, Zippy the travelling lobster arrived at Salem earlier today.
…

He does not travel light, as Gruntdoc has already said. But since this was a long trip half way across the world from Texas to Tamil Nadu, Zippy very graciously allowed Gruntdoc to pack light for him. He still required help from my daughter A to unpack his stuff though.

…

…

He met a smaller crustacean, a crab who A has named Zappy after hearing about Zippy and they hit it off right away. They shared some sandwiches while Zippy showed Zappy his blog and told him all about the wonderful places that he has been to and the great people that he has met.
…

Zippy was pretty tired by this time so A made a bed for him using the very Pink Quilt that Ramona gifted her. Zappy insisted on a sleepover with his new friend, so A let him. She also got two of her older dolls to keep them company and tell them bedtime stories.

When I checked up on them after lights out, I found Zappy fast asleep but Zippy was still wide awake.

I guess he’s a bit nervous about being in a strange new place among strange people, talking a strange language. But Zippy, trooper that he is, has already picked up a few words of Tamil. I sat with him and spoke to him for a while till he nodded off. Goodnight Zippy.
In his ongoing travels around the world, while visiting medbloggers, their families and friends and having whacky adventures, Zippy is trying to raise awareness and money for childrens’ brain cancer research. So, if you feel the urge, go over there and give a little.

I am thrilled that dear Zippy has met Zappy and is enjoying his stay in India. Let me know how he likes the cuisine.
Yes, I’m wondering if he’ll like the hot peppers. Glad to hear he made it safely.
Wow, Zippy is so lucky! New friends, new places, wonderful hospitality!
Yikes, hot peppers? Wonder if lobsters can “cook” from the inside out?
I don’t think Zippy will have a problem with the cuisine in my house. We’re a crustacean and animal friendly house, vegetarian with occasional eggs.
I’ll introduce him slowly to the hot and spicy food. I’m sure he’ll want to take back a jar of my favourite green chilli pickles by the time he leaves Salem
